Great interior and architectural photography is not just about showing a space. It is about understanding the intent behind it and translating that into imagery that serves your business. My process is designed to be thoughtful, collaborative, and predictable, so you know exactly what to expect at every stage.
Creative Direction and Intent
Every project begins with context.
We discuss:
The story you want the space to tell
Intended usage and publication goals
Where the project fits within your broader portfolio
Understanding how the images will ultimately live helps guide decisions around lighting, composition, and pacing on shoot day.
Planning and Styling Alignment
Great results depend on preparation.
Ahead of the shoot, we align on:
Styling priorities and visual hierarchy
Key moments or details that should anchor the story
Light considerations and timing
If helpful, I am happy to connect you with a stylist, collaborate with an existing styling team, or work alongside you if you plan to self-style. My priority is simply to make sure there is a thoughtful plan so the space is photographed at its best.
Shoot Day Collaboration
On site, the work is highly collaborative and intentionally paced.
I make heavy use of strobes and light-shaping modifiers to build light rather than rely on what is available. This allows for consistency, control, and a refined final look across the entire project.
I shoot tethered to a laptop, with an additional iPad running live view for stylists or self-styled projects. This allows adjustments to happen in real time and helps ensure everyone is aligned before we move on.
Most images are brought to roughly to 90% complete on site, so there are no surprises later and no guessing about how the final photographs will feel.
Post-Production and Refinement
Post-production is about restraint and consistency.
Editing focuses on:
Distraction removal
Clean perspective and natural balance
Color harmony across the full set
The goal is polish without overworking the images, so they feel elevated, believable, and timeless.
Delivery and Usage
Final images are delivered digitally in formats appropriate for both print and web use.
Licensing is discussed clearly and transparently so you know exactly how images can be used and where. If additional usage or third-party licensing opportunities arise later, those conversations are handled thoughtfully and professionally.
A Calm, Intentional Process
Clients value knowing what to expect.
My process is designed to feel collaborative, efficient, and considered, with clear communication at every stage and imagery that works as hard as the spaces themselves.
If this approach aligns with how you work, I would love to talk about your project.
